Kirit and Meena Pathak win at 2009 World Food Awards

Some fantastic news for the Pathak family and the Patak's brand, when Kirit and Meena Pathak were awarded an Outstanding Achievement Award at the 2009 World Food Awards.

Kirit and Meena were delighted to be honoured for being amongst the best in the world food sector. Winners were selected by a panel of industry experts, and the awards were held on the 31st of October 2009 at Londons Park Lane Hilton.

Patak's Brand New TV Campaign Goes Live!

Patak's is back on TV with a fantastic new ad campaign, showing the strong family heritage behind the brand. The ads feature Kirit Pathak - son of LG Pathak, who came to the UK in 1956 and started the Patak's business from a small shop in Drummond St - selling Indian ingredients and specialties. Kirit has been instrumental in the business since he was a little boy, and the ads will go back to the 1950s and show how the business was developed  from the very beginning, and how Britain's love of curry developed at the same time.  The TV ads will go live on Monday the 5th of October

Patak's Launches Great New Products - To Help You Create an Indian Restaurant Experience at Home.

Patak's have launched some exciting new products this autumn, all geared towards helping consumers eat the Indian meals they love - in their own home.  There is a great new cooking sauce, a range of Biryani as well as a range of easy-to-use paste sachets which are used to make delicious main or side dishes.

New Easy Oven-Bake Biryani - The first oven-baked Biryani sauce to the market. A Biryani is a classic Indian restaurant favourite, and is a dry spiced rice dish usually with meat, seafood or vegetables. The new range of cooking sauces are designed to be simply poured directly onto uncooked rice and placed in the oven for 35 minutes – so they now mean that it is now easier than ever to create a restaurant quality Biryani dish at home.

Butter Chicken Cooking Sauce -  also know as Murgh Makhani in some restaurants, this creamy, mildly spiced sauce is utterly delicious and set to become a firm family favourite.

Easy Side & Main Dishes– To help make it easier for people to make a more authentic Indian meal at home. All come with clear instructions, showing people exactly how to make a dish using a paste. There is a range of easy-to-make side dishes including Easy Saag Aloo for Four, Easy Bombay Potato for Four and Easy Mushroom Bhaji for Four. The range also includes four of the most popular Indian main dishes – Easy Tikka Masala for Two, Easy Korma for Two, Easy Madras for Two and Easy Balti for Two.

Patak's Pack Punch at the Craft Guild of Chefs Awards

Vijay Anand, Patak's Group Executive Chef, has been awarded Ethnic Chef 2007 by the prestigious Craft Guild of Chefs. He joins Lee Bennett of The Savoy Grill and Marco Pierre White as a fellow winner at the Guild's annual celebration of culinary excellence.

Now in their 14th year, the awards are the chefs 'Oscars' which recognise and reward the leading talent working in kitchens across the industry. There are 12 different award categories for which nominations are made covering all aspects of the chef profession, from education to pubs and from the cost sector to banqueting.

Vijay beat off stiff competition from the Michelin starred Karunesh Khanna, head chef of Amaya, in a victory which recognised his vast experience, ability and skill to develop and scale up restaurant-style recipes and ingredients for the Patak's brand.

Vijay has a long-standing reputation for excellence having worked for the Oberoi Hotel Group in India before moving to Hong Kong to open a five star restaurant. He then came to the UK to open the renowned Jaipur Restaurant in Milton Keynes and more laterly, The Saffron Lounge in Manchester.

On winning the award, Vijay said:

'I'm thrilled to have been recognised by the Guild and this award acknowledges all our efforts at Pataks.'
