Garlic Chicken (Lasuni Murgh)

This simple dish uses the strong flavours of the Balti paste - such as cumin, coriander and other authentic spices, with garlic. The result being a tantalising dish that is easy enough to rustle up for a quick weekday meal.

This recipe features

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 450g chicken, diced
  • 200g onions, diced
  • 1 tbsp garlic, sliced
  • 200g canned chopped tomatoes
  • 3 tbsp Patak's Balti Paste
  • 50ml single cream
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh coriander
  • 100ml water

Methods

  1. Heat the oil in a pan and fry the onions for 3 minutes.
  2. Add the sliced garlic and fry for a further 2 minutes.
  3. Add the Patak's Balti Paste fry for 2 minutes then add the chicken and fry for 3 minutes to seal the meat.
  4. Add the chopped tomatoes, water and single cream, bring to the boil, cover and simmer for 10 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through.
  5. Garnish with the fresh coriander and serve with rice and naan breads.
