Juicy Lamb Curry (Rassedaar Gosht)

This is a succulent and hearty version of a Lamb Rogan Josh - the lamb is super tender, and the mix of spices in our Rogan Josh paste make this a wonderfully flavoursome dish.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 100g onions, sliced
  • 400g lamb, diced
  • 200g chopped canned tomatoes
  • 100g fresh tomatoes, diced
  • 75g green pepper, diced
  • 3 tbsp Patak's Rogan Josh Paste
  • 75ml single cream
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp fresh coriander, chopped
  • 100ml water
  • salt, to taste

Methods

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a heavy based pan and fry the sliced onions for 5 minutes. Add Patak's Rogan Josh Paste, sprinkle in some water, adn cook for 2 minutes.
  2. Add the lamb and sauté for a further 4 minutes.
  3. Add the canned and fresh tomatoes, green pepper and water and bring to the boil.
  4. Cover and leave to simmer for 30 minutes or until the lamb is cooked through.  This recipe tastes best when there is plenty of sauce, so add more water if you want.
  5. Stir in the cream and add the sugar. Check the seasoning and adjust if necessary.  Stir through the chopped fresh coriander.
  6. Serve hot with Patak's Naan Bread.
