Sizzling Balti Steak with Fresh Ginger

This has a real Oriental taste to it - it must be the ginger. The spices of our Balti paste really transform this steak into something specialĀ - best served medium rare, however it tastes great whatever your preference.

Ingredients

  • 1 - 2 tbsp Patak's Balti Paste
  • few sprays 1 calorie oil
  • 2 tbsp fresh ginger, sliced
  • 1 small red onion, sliced
  • 3 tomatoes, chopped
  • 275g trimmed fillet steak, cut into thin slices
  • 2 - 4 tbsp water
  • 500g basmati rice
  • few sprigs of fresh coriander to garnish

Methods

  1. Heat a wok or large non-stick frying pan.  Add the oil and ginger and stir fry for 1 minute.  Add the Patak's Balti Paste and 1 tbsp water and cook for a further 2 minutes, stirring well.
  2. Add the onion and tomatoes and cook for 2 minutes.  Add the beef and stir-fry for 2 minutes or until it is sealed, adding the remaining water to create a sauce.
  3. Cook the basmati rice as directed on the pack and spoon into dishes.  Spoon the steak over the rice and garnish with coriander.
