Punjabi Samosa Chaat

Our Punjabi Samosa Chaat is the ultimate Indian street food - quick and easy to make and bursting with flavour. This dish is made from chopped crispy samosas drizzled with mint and coriander chutney and sweet yoghurt then adorned with jewel-like pomegranates and onion. Fruity, creamy and mildly spicy, your guests will keep going back for more.

Ingredients

Serves 8 people

Mint and Coriander Chutney
  • Fresh Coriander 36g - With stems and washed
  • Fresh Mint 18g - Leaves only and washed
  • Patak's Lime Pickle 40g
  • Yogurt 60g
  • Salt To Taste and Balance Flavour
  • Sugar 4 tsp

Sweet Yogurt

  • Full Fat Yogurt 100g
  • Sugar 20g
  • Fried Punjabi samosa 12 - Could be bought from an Indian grocery store and then fried till golden brown.
  • Pomegranate 1 - Seeds taken out
  • Red onion Chopped 1
  • Fresh Coriander Chopped 15g
  • Tamarind Sauce 50g - Bought from Indian Store or Tesco World Food aisle.

Method

Mint and Coriander Chutney:

  1. Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend to a smooth chutney.
  2. Keep aside in a refrigerator.

Sweetened Yogurt:

  1. Whisk the sugar into yogurt and keep aside.

Assembly:

  1. Cut the fried samosas into 2 and place them on the serving platter.
  2. Drizzle half the yogurt, mint and coriander chutney and tamarind sauce on the samosas.
  3. Spread the chopped red onions, pomegranate seeds and chopped green coriander and again drizzle the remaining yogurt, mint and coriander chutney and sweet yogurt.
  4. Serve as a starter.
