15 mins Preparation

Ingredients

Serves 2 people

  • 2 Beef fillet steaks
  • 200g Chantanay carrots peeled and blanched
  • 200g Tenderstem broccoli trimmed and lightly blanched
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • Pataks Madras 3-Step Kit
  • 5ml Lemon Juice
  • Salt & black pepper (to taste)

Method

  1. Heat a frying pan to medium heat and add the whole spices from Madras meal kit. Dry roast for 3 minutes, remove from the pan and then grind to a powder in a pestle and mortar. Keep aside.
  2. Marinate the steak with some oil, salt and cracked black pepper and keep aside to cook later.

  4. Simmer the sauce for 7-8 minutes and keep warm.
  5. Cook the steaks on a griddle pan or a frying pan for 2 ½ minutes each side for a medium rare steak. Rest for 2-3 minutes.
  6. To the frying pan, add blanched carrots and broccoli and sprinkle the crushed spices made earlier. Fry for 2-3 minutes. Season with salt and add the lemon juice.
  7. Serve hot with freshly baked naan bread or basmati rice.
